4 Historic Floors &
3 Gallery Spaces
The Villa still carries traces of its 1922 past — a salumeria, a bar, a guest house — but each floor has found a new purpose.
The Ground floor has become the main exhibition space, with 3 different rooms available for artists to showcase their work.

Bar Dell'Arte
Original wood and marble bar, neon lights, and artworks on display.

Sala da Pranza
The old dining room reborn as a gallery, and a studio.

The Office
Volker's workspace, linking the Villa’s history with its present creative life.

2
Founding Artists
The story of Villa d’Arte Toscana begins with two artists — Volker Scheurer and Ania Dzieżewska — and their shared vision of a place where life and art could coexist.
Volker’s sculptures shape the outside and the inside — bronze figures that balance irony and grace, fragments of myth and modernity. Ania’s paintings bring the walls to life, filled with color, movement, and energy.
Together, they turned a century-old house into a living artwork — part home, part studio, part exhibition.

Volker Scheurer
A German sculptor and installation artist,
has spent decades exploring form and symbolism through bronze, stone, and found materials.

Ania Dzieżewska
A Polish painter and graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, creates canvases that vibrate with color and texture.

and pugs - Paul & Lola
Siblings. One calm and patient, the other feisty and energetic. Never leaving their owners side, always assisting in the creation.

1
Sculpture Garden
The large garden opens into a landscape of bronze and stone. Volker’s figures stand among agave and trees, changing with light and shadow. Guests wander, sit, and pause — a dialogue between art and nature.

At Villa d'Arte Toscana
Amenities to further the Experience

Panoramic Loggia
At the top of the Villa, a covered terrace opens onto sweeping views of Nicciano, the forests of Garfagnana, and the distant Apuan Alps. It’s a place to share a glass of wine, a conversation, or simply enjoy the nature.

Fitness Room
A space in progress, where stone walls and natural light create a grounded, intimate atmosphere. Equipped for basic workouts, stretching, or morning yoga.

Library
Pink walls, art books, travel magazines, a fireplace, record player. It’s both a lounge and a meeting space.

Pet-friendly Space
Animals are part of the Villa. Guests are welcome to bring their companions, provided they’re friendly and mindful of the artworks. Expect Paul and Lola to be roaming the corridors and garden.

Gardens
Two gardens surround the Villa — one private with dining space and herbs, the other sculptural and open to guests. Expect to meet wildlife and lizards.

High-speed Internet
Though surrounded by mountains, the Villa is fully connected. Reliable, high-speed Wi-Fi lets artists work, upload, or connect with the outside world.
Please note
The villa is a work-in-progress—and we embrace that. You might notice cracked paint, exposed cables, or unfinished corners. These aren’t flaws—they’re part of the process. This is a lived-in, evolving home filled with stories and texture. If you're looking for polished minimalism, this might not be your place. But if you love character, beauty with rough edges, and real creative spirit, you’ll feel right at home.
